Janice LaNelle Cook Bauerle, a beacon of kindness and generosity, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on March 2, 2024, in Jourdanton, Texas. Born in Austin, Texas, on September 18, 1940, to the late Delbert and Rubell Cook, Janice's warmth and loving nature deeply touched all who had the pleasure of knowing her throughout her fulfilling life.
Janice's journey began in the vibrant city of Austin, where she was born and raised. Her early years were marked by a close-knit family and the development of interests that would stay with her for a lifetime. Her passion for University of Texas sports, especially baseball, became a cornerstone of her leisure activities. Janice's love for her family was unparalleled, and she found immense joy in taking cruises, exploring new horizons while making cherished memories. She also loved to go dancing to country music with her friends. Another passion of hers was shopping. There was nothing better than finding a good bargain.
Professionally, Janice dedicated many years of diligent service to the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) and National Safety Council before retiring. Her work ethic and community involvement left a lasting impact, setting a fine example for those who followed in her footsteps.
Janice's life was also marked by personal loss, as she was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Delbert and Rubell Cook, and her brothers, Charles Ray Cook and James David Cook. Her nieces Lori Lynn Goldstein and Shelli Denise Smithey also left this world before her. Yet, through these losses, her resilience and capacity to care for others only grew stronger.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her son Brian Bauerle and his wife Brandi, who will cherish the legacy of love and strength she leaves behind. Janice's grandchildren, Shyanne, Tyler, McKenzie, Will and his wife Tori will forever hold dear their Memaw's lessons and the unconditional love she showered upon them. Her sister, Judy Kitchens, along with her husband Ronnie, will miss Janice's presence and guidance, as will her numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends who were blessed to be part of her extended family.
Janice's kindness extended beyond her immediate circle; she had a profound habit of reaching out to others, always ensuring that the people around her were doing well. This selfless concern for others' welfare was one of the many ways she expressed her deep-seated love for humanity.
In remembering Janice LaNelle Cook Bauerle, those who knew her are reminded of the love, kindness, and generosity that she embodied. Her spirit of giving and her dedication to her family and community will remain a guiding light for all who were touched by her life.
As we bid farewell to Janice, we reflect on a life well-lived, a life that was filled with laughter, love, and the joy of connecting with others. Her memory will continue to inspire and comfort her family and friends, as they carry forward the values, she held dear.
Janice's life will be celebrated in a manner befitting the profound impact she had on so many. Her legacy of warmth and caring will live on through the stories shared by those who loved her and the lives she touched with her gentle grace.
In the stillness of our hearts, we give thanks for Janice LaNelle Cook Bauerle's presence in our lives. We honor her memory by embodying the kindness she practiced daily, ensuring that her spirit of generosity continues to ripple through the lives she has influenced, for generations to come.
