Janice Ann Sherwin Morgan was born in Ponca City Oklahoma on October 4, 1937 to her parents, Ruby (Jackie) Sherwin and Truman Sherwin. Janice attended McCord Elementary School, Ponca City Junior High School and graduated from Ponca City High School with the Class of "1955".

Jan married her husband Ray Morgan in 1956 and graduated from Central State College with a degree in Music Education after having given birth to three children, Shari Hemsath, Jackie Garis and Perry Morgan.

Jan taught public school choral music for five years in the Oklahoma City area before moving with her family to Las Vegas, NV where she and Ray taught music for the next eight years. Jan then moved from the classroom to the position of Music Resource Teacher before she was appointed as the Fine Arts Coordinator for the Clark County School District. During her tenure as Resource Teacher Jan was in demand as a clinician for various choral music events throughout Nevada, Arizona and California. In 1989 Jan was appointed as Director of Administrative Assessment for the School District. When Jan retired from CCSD she was serving as the Assistant Superintendent in charge of the Administrative Selection and Support Staff.

Jan is survived by her husband Ray Morgan of Huntsville, TX, her daughters Shari Hemsath of Huntsville, TX, Jackie Garis of Las Vegas, NV, her son Perry Morgan of Las Vegas, NV, eleven grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren, sister, Judi Page of Ponca City, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents Jackie and TJ Sherwin, sister Faith Sherwin, brother Carol Sherwin and granddaughter Erica Anderson.

A memorial celebration will be held on Sunday, December 14 at 1:30 PM at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, which will follow at luncheon held at 12:00 PM at Sam Houston Community Room. Memorial condolences to the family may be made at www.shmfh.com.
