Janice Theresa (Eischeid) Neppl was born in Carroll, Iowa, on December 20, 1941, the daughter of Albert Eischeid and Frances (Truhe) Eischeid. She was raised on the family farm south of Carroll. She attended grade school in Roselle at Holy Angels School and graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1959.

On November 26, 1960, Janice was united in marriage with Duane “Dewey” C. Neppl at Holy Angel’s Catholic Church in Roselle. Their union was blessed with five children: Patricia, Carlene, Chris, Bryan, and Albert.

Janice and Duane first made their home north of Vail, then Manilla, and finally in the Denison area. Janice worked as a clerk at Super-Valu and then at Coast-to-Coast and Do-it-Best Hardware. Later in life she did in-home daycare for several grandchildren and Denison area children. She taught 2nd Grade religious education classes for St. Rose of Lima for many years and was also involved with the St. Rose of Lima Ladies Guild. Joining her husband at many Iowa Rural Letter Carriers Association meetings, Janice soon became involved in both the Iowa and National Rural Letter Carriers Ladies Auxiliary. Janice and Dewey were also both regular blood donors and eventually she took over organizing the Denison area blood drives. Janice and Dewey attended many events for their children and grandchildren. She will lovingly be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Janice passed away peacefully early on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Gracewell Nursing Facility in Denison. At the time of her death, she had been blessed with 83 years, 8 months, 18 days.

Those remaining to cherish and honor her memory include her children: Patricia Kruse and husband Kevin of Callender, Carlene Hinds and husband Brad of Norwalk, Chris Neppl and wife Renee of Adel, Bryan Neppl and wife Amanda of West Des Moines, and Albert Neppl and wife Gloria of Polk City; 13 grandchildren: Mitch (Mandy) Kruse, Erika (Mike) Berry, Trisha (Matt) Vanderpol, Travis (Ashley) Masten, Trevor (Danielle) Masten, Carson Hinds, Lucas Neppl, Camryn Mears, Ava Neppl, Ashlynn Neppl, Joshua Neppl, Cole Neppl, and Collin Neppl; 14 great-grandchildren: Claire Kruse, Emma Kruse, Luke Kruse, Evelyn Berry, Ada Berry, Reese Berry, Peyton Vanderpol, Avery Vanderpol, Birkley Masten, Beckham Masten, Baylor Masten, Charlotte Masten, Bodhi Masten, and Annie Masten; sisters: Lenora (Vince) Gross of Carroll, Verena (Romen) Wittrock of Carroll, Alberta Meiners of Dedham, and Therese (Dale) Schlichte of Carroll; brothers-in-law: Duane Bueltel of Carroll and Clarence (Ladonna) Neppl of Colorado; sisters-in-law: Jean Neppl of Denison, Virginia Hoerle of Minnesota and Esther Doyle of Indiana; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Duane C. Neppl; her parents, Albert Eischeid and Frances (Truhe) Eischeid; brothers: Clifford and Marvin Eischeid; and sisters: Dolores Nees, Marian Bauer, Ruth Ann Brinks, and Velma Bueltel.

A rosary will be held at 4:30 p.m. and visitation with family and friends will follow from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison.
