Morris "Moe" Neppl, 83, of LaVale, MD passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024 at the Hospice in Devlin Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in McCauleyville Township, MN on March 3, 1941 to the late Harold and Laureign (Bellmore) Neppl. In addition to his parents he was preceeded in death by his wife of 53 years, JoAnn (Branson) Neppl; his siblings, Kenneth (Neva) Neppl, Richard (Marlene) Neppl, Terrance (Shirley) Neppl, Nila (Walter) Grenz, Marjorie (Gene) Polansky, Adelaide Jay Neppl, Timothy Neppl, Randall (Jan) Neppl; three brother in laws, Ray, Ronald, and Paul; parent in laws, Paul and Josephine (Peer) Branson.
Moe joined the U.S. Navy in 1958, and while doing so he met Bobby Peer and became instant friends, so much so he married his cousin and followed her to West Virginia for the rest of her life. Following his time in the Navy he continued in the U.S. Navy Reserves for 4 years.
Moe then had a career at the Kelly Springfield Tire Co. for 26 years. Following Kelly's closure he went on to drive with Howell Trucking for 13 years. Finally he dedicated himself to driving the school buses for Allegany Co. Public Schools for 22 years; doing so even while receiving chemo and radiation treatments for cancer, he loved those children.
Moe is survived by his daughter, Deborah Zamanali; and three sisters, Trudy Such, Carol LeNoue, Renee (Scott) Rossow; and a very large extended family including many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 15th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, MD. A funeral service will immediately follow at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. George Harpold officiating.
Interment will be with his wife in Fort Ashby Cemetery, Fort Ashby, WV.
