KING, Janis Dianne (Bensch) -- Age 78, of Flushing, died October 13, 2025. Services will be held 2 PM Friday October 17, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, Minister Rexford Odglen officiating. The service will be live streamed and can be viewed via a link on Janis' obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. Visitation will be 11AM until time of service at 2 PM on Friday October 17. Private interment at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, Grand Blanc at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider another memorial tribute item or a donation to the Janis King Memorial Fund (c/o Sharp Funeral Homes).
Janis was born August 10, 1947 in Flint, the daughter of Kenneth Paul and Effie Leona (Chapman) Bensch. She was a 1965 graduate of Holy Redeemer High School. She married Bill King October 12, 1993. He preceded her in death on January 15, 1997. Janis was a hairdresser for many years and also worked at Fortino's grocery store. Countless long-term friendships resulted from these jobs. She enjoyed events and dinners at the Swartz Creek VFW. Her greatest joy was being a mom. She loved "her girls", but she probably loved her grandkids even more. Family was very important to her.
Janis is survived by her 3 daughters, Deena (Michael) Crimp, LeeAnne (John) Lansdale, Deborah Tomaszewski; son in law, John Tomaszewski; 6 grandchildren, Cameron, Vanessa (fiancé Shayne), Matthew (fiancée Abby), Andrew, Jack, and David; sister, Karen Albee; sister-in-law, Rita Bensch; step-children, Ken (Melissa) Allen, Lynn Allen, Barb Allen; step-grandchildren, Brian, Renei, Caroline, Levi, Courtney, and Anthony; many nieces and nephews; and father of Janis' daughters, John Miller.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Leona Bensch; siblings, Marilyn Polidan, Robert Bensch; husband Bill King; and son-in-law, Paul Latva. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
