Jarod Hamel Obituary

WEBSTER- Jarod W. Hamel, 43, of Webster, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025 after a sudden health complication, his loved ones by his side. Jarod was born on October 30, 1981 in Concord, NH. He attended Allenstown Elementary and Pembroke Academy.

He leaves his love and caretaker, Sherry and his little buddy "princess" Eli, also of Webster.

He is survived by his father, Wayne Hamel of Chester, his mother, Cathleen Bailey-Scruton of Pembroke, his brother, Wayne Bailey and his wife Tonya of Deerfield and a son, Jason Morrill of Contoocook. He also leaves several aunts, uncles and cousins as well as many friends including his trucker family.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Norman and Shirley Hamel, his maternal grandparents, Richard and Phyllis Bailey and his stepfather, Arthur Scruton.

Jarod was a third-generation trucker with immeasurable skill and focus when behind the wheel. He always said he was born with diesel running through his veins. At age 5, he climbed up into his dad's truck and started it. When asked what he was doing, he replied "I'm letting the air build up, Dad." From that day on, Jarod was at his dad's side, taking any opportunity to tinker, wash, polish, drive or anything as long as he could be around a truck. It had to be an old truck, though, no "slippery hood automatic" truck for Jarod!

Jarod started driving locally with his dad at age 18 and at 21, he was running the road. He could operate flatbed, lowbed, car haulers, bull wagon, reefers, tankers, etc. including hazmat loads. He was also skilled in operating large equipment such as loaders, bulldozers and excavators. His cross-country connections while driving reached many people including folks like Steven Tyler, Kathy Matea, Tony Justice and even Dollywood. When not in a truck, Jarod loved time in the woods on his side by side with friends, riding his Harley and spending as much time as possible soaking up the warm sun in Florida. His favorite hobbies were building model cars and trucks, listening to old school country music and going to truck shows.

In 2019, Jarod and Sherry attended the 75 Chrome Shop Truck Show in Ocala, FL, where they were chosen to be placed in the 2020 Big Truck Calendar featuring the 1979 beautiful black extended hood Kenworth, Mabeline. In 2021, they were honored again to appear on the CAT scale card #35 featuring the same truck.

When not trucking, Jarod liked his peace and quiet. He would always say "meet me in the garage. Let's have a coffee." Jarod also enjoyed working on the farm with his mother, Cathleen and in his earlier years with his stepfather, Art. Jarod had a tremendous love for animals and leaves behind many cherished pets.

Jarod will be missed beyond words but he will live on in all of us, especially when we hear that ole' Jake brake rumble.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 25th at 2 P.M. at 28 Edwards Mill Road in Chester, NH 03046.
