Jason Scott Clark, 47, a native of Lexington, Kentucky, living in Poughquag, New York, passed away on Friday, December 6th, 2024. He was a graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington. Jason had a lifelong passion for the horse industry, working at Highclere, Ashford Stud, and Wimbledon Farm, but making his life's work at Sugar Maple Farm in Poughquag. He began his career by gaining the knowledge he needed by working side by side with his Grandfather Tiny Clark. He would stand at the end of the driveway in his big cowboy hat waiting for Tiny to pick him up to head to the horse sales when he was only 16 years old. Throughout Jason's life, he worked on horse farms in Kentucky, New York, Ireland and New Zealand. Admired by many in the thoroughbred industry, recently a veterinarian told him, "You bandaged that horse's leg better than I could have".
Jason was religious about calling his Mom every Sunday evening to check in on her and talk about his work week. He knew his Mom loved the Hallmark love stories. He'd often call and tell her "I got a show for you to watch" which would be on the History or Smithsonian channels. By his recommendations, those became her favorites too. Jason had unique bond with his brother Justin, their birthdays were close enough together to share 8 days annually at the same age.
Jason was preceded in death by his best friend Zenny, an Australian Shepherd and leaves behind his precious girl, Zoey a Lab, Pitbull mix.
He is also proceeded in death by his maternal grandparents Ford and Cleo Jackson (Lillian, Alabama) and paternal grandparents Tiny and Ruth Clark (Lexington, Kentucky). He is survived by his parents; Cheryl J. Clark (Georgetown, Kentucky), and Ralph D. Clark (Lexington); siblings Todd (Kristin) Clark of Lexington, Christy Sechrest (Jon Scott) of Versailles, Beth (Gene) Walker of Georgetown, Justin Clark of Georgetown, and Kelli Clark of Lexington; cousins, Sara Jackson Green, Harmony Fisher, and Jeremy Jackson; nephews Christopher Williams, Aaron Clark, Nick Clark, Bricen Parker, Luis Andrew Alvarado, Rudy Conley, and Jackson Sechrest.
Private graveside services will be held. Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Memorial Donations are suggested to Old Friends, Inc. Thoroughbred Retirement, 841 Paynes Depot Road, Georgetown, Kentucky 40324. Friends and family are encouraged to share their condolences and memories on Jason's Tribute Wall at www.TuckerYocumWilson.com.
