Jason Robert Mcnew

Jason passed away peacefully on March 9 surrounded by his family. Jason was born on June 8,1976 in Garden Grove, California to Larry William and Mary Mcnew. He moved from California to Georgia when he was ten years old. Jason was an only child, but this is where he would meet his lifelong friends who he loved like his brothers. This brotherhood and Jason's adventurous spirit combined with his love of music resulted in a few bands, a lot of travel, a record label, a European tour and lots of memories that Jason treasured throughout the years. Jason also loved learning and traveling, collecting music, action figures, and cataloging everything he owned. He was smart, funny, and extremely stubborn. He graduated from Georgia State University where he majored in History. This is where he and Lisa met. They were married in 2005, and in 2006 they moved to Savannah and welcomed their first daughter. Jason loyally worked for the same company for over 20 years and he continued playing music as part of the worship team at his church until he was no longer able to. He loved his girls, and especially loved watching them play basketball every chance he could. Upon his request, one of the last sentiments he expressed is that he wanted his girls- his family and friends- to grasp the importance of truth. For them to know that asking for help is not a
weakness, but rather a strength. That it takes courage to learn new things. That fear is a liar.
That your choices affect more than just you, and there will come a day that there are no more tomorrows no matter how much you want them. Say I love you, get over being offended by hard truths and learn to apologize. Jason was one of the kindest humans and had so much life left to live. He was deeply loved and he will be missed. Jason loved Jesus. He loved his family and the community around him. Jason had a servant's heart. His three girls carry on all the very best parts of him. He would say they are the greatest contributions he ever made to this world. There was never a moment he wasn't proud of them.
Jason is preceded in death by both of his parents.
Jason is survived by his wife, Lisa Ashley-Mcnew, his daughters, Camilla Harper Mcnew, Chloe Mcnew, and Greer
Mcnew, and family Jenny Ahouse, Emma Ahouse, Pete Ashley, Vera Ashley, and the brothers of
his heart- Brian, Matt, Brandon, Chris, and many more, as well as his cousins Sean Mcnew and Theresa Koudelka-Young, Steve, John, and Jim Koudelka. Jason finished his time on earth much too early, but he finished well.
A private visitation and celebration will be held and announced separately.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you love on, pray for, support and encourage Lisa and his
precious girls now and in the days ahead as they face not just the ordinary day, but many
milestones in life without him.
Romans 8:38-39 "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the
present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all
creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our
Lord."
