Jason Schunder Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hays Funeral Home - Northborough on Sep. 8, 2024.
NORTHBOROUGH
The Schunder family share the passing of Jason L. Schunder, beloved son, brother and loving father to his own children, who passed away at home on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, after a brief medical episode. He was 47 years old.
Jason was born in Worcester, the second oldest child to John R. and Katherine (Deftereos) Schunder, Jr. He graduated from Algonquin Regional High School, Class of 1995, then attended Nichols College, Class of 2000. Jason had a lifelong love of sports, especially football. During high school, Jason's towering stance and strength served him well on the [former] Tomahawk's defensive line. At Nichols College he played football all four years as a starter and captain. He played lacrosse as well. As an adult, he was proud to have assisted on the coaching staff.
Jason had a very strong work ethic. He was a skilled heavy machinery operator and oversaw numerous site operations as a foreman throughout his career with J. McManus Companies and Blue Water Landscaping and Snow Removal Inc. He especially enjoyed masonry and was proud of the beautiful walls he created alongside his father at John Schunder & Sons company.
Surviving Jason are his three children who he loved more than they will ever know, Vanessa, Mason and Braylon Schunder; his mother, Kathy of Northborough; two brothers, John Schunder, Jr. and wife Laurie of Richmond, VA, Michael Schunder and wife Kerry of Rockland, MA; a sister, Bridget Schunder and companion Marty Barboza of Northborough; the mother of his children, Danielle; numerous nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held 1-3p.m. on Saturday, Sept 14th, at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St, Northborough, MA 01532.
Jason's family respectfully request in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be directed to an account for Jason's children at "Jason Schunder Memorial Fund" Quincy Credit Union, 100 Quincy Ave., Quincy, Ma 02169 or Venmo @Jasonschundermemorialfund.

This hearts my heart to see. Jay and I used to bust each other's balls at every chance we got. He was and is my favorite person to banter with. Many laughs and many many great football memories. My heart goes out to the Shunder family and Jason's own family. He was truly a genuine great hearted person who loved to laugh. I'm sorry buddy. Be there for us with your new view, and forever lay in God's love.
