Dr. Jaspal Singh
November 1, 1936 – February 1, 2025
With deep love and gratitude, we celebrate the remarkable life of Dr. Jaspal Singh, a man of immense wisdom, kindness, and unwavering faith. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, mentor, and healer, Jaspal lived a life filled with love, purpose, and boundless generosity. He never ceased to inspire us with his fierce strength, quiet humility, and profound wisdom.
Dr. Jaspal Singh, 88, of Oak Brook, Illinois, passed away on February 1st, 2025 at 1:13 PM at Hinsdale Hospital. Jaspal was born on November 1st, 1936, in India, to Avtar Kaur and Jagat Singh Chawla. He was raised in Bangkok, studied in India where he attended GSVM Medical College at Kanpur University, graduating in 1961. With a deep passion for medicine, he pursued his dream across the world. In July of 1966, with courage and determination, he arrived in the United States to complete his residency and fellowship, paving the way for a lifetime of service in nuclear medicine. In 1972, he became the Director of Nuclear Medicine at Weiss Hospital, a position he held with great pride and integrity. He mentored countless medical residents, shaping the future of medicine with his wisdom and compassion. His work was never just a profession-it was a calling, one that fulfilled his intellectual curiosity and sense of purpose.
Beyond his career, Jaspal's life was defined by love and faith. In 1965, he married his beloved Veena, his lifelong partner and greatest source of joy. Together, they built a beautiful life, welcoming their firstborn in 1966 and nurturing a family bound by love and deep respect. Jaspal also formed lifelong friendships, which he nurtured with a gentle heart, good food, and his signature wry humor.
He is survived by his cherished wife Veena Singh, his son Paul (Gabriela Kaur), his daughter Kiroun (Kanwar), his brother Bhagwant (Simrat), and his adored grandchildren Maeher, Tia Malika, Arzoe, Francesca Mia, Aasa, and Akaal. Each of them carries forward his legacy of kindness, intellect, and an appreciation for life's beauty. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister Joginder Kaur (Ajit).
Jaspal was not only a pillar of strength within his own family but also a guiding force for so many. He paved the way for numerous relatives to come to the United States, always ready to offer guidance and support as they took the leap in pursuit of a life filled with endless opportunity. For many, their first memories in America were of being welcomed by Jaspal-his warmth and generosity turning an unfamiliar place into a home.
Deeply devoted to his faith, he found guidance and strength in the teachings of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. He lived by the principles of humility, service, and gratitude, embodying the Sikh values of selfless giving and unwavering integrity. His faith was the foundation of his character, shaping the way he cared for others and approached life with grace and compassion.
Jaspal lived with an eye for elegance and an appreciation for the finer things-travel, exquisite cuisine, classic pens, beautiful cars, and timeless fashion. But true to nature as a social butterfly, his greatest passion was people. He had a way of making everyone feel seen, valued, and encouraged to pursue their own dreams. He enabled so many to fulfill their aspirations, offering guidance and support to those who followed in his footsteps.
While we deeply miss his presence, we find comfort in knowing his soul has transcended. Leaving behind a profound legacy of love and wisdom that will forever guide us. Though we mourn his loss, we also celebrate his extraordinary life-a life of purpose, faith, and enduring impact. His spirit remains in the lives he touched, the lessons he imparted, and the limitless love he shared. His kindness, strength, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire us, reminding us to live with the same grace, generosity, and compassion that he so effortlessly embodied. Though he may no longer walk beside us, his presence will always be felt in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
May his journey continue with the same grace and wisdom that defined his time with us. May his soul find eternal peace in Waheguru's embrace. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and support during this time.
