This world only got six years with Jaxxen Bray, but what a six years they were.
Jaxxen, known to those lucky enough to love him as "Butter Bean," "The Monster," "Bad Man," and "Jaxxy," was pure energy, pure joy, and pure mischief - wrapped up in one unforgettable little boy. Born in Norman, Oklahoma, and living in Muskogee, Jaxxen lived a life louder, brighter, and fuller than some people manage in decades.
He had a deep love for trash trucks and anything that flashed, beeped, or roared to life with lights and sound. He'd proudly shout "GO!" at red lights, gently reminding us all to keep moving, to not get stuck too long. He was the kind of kid who bit his friends with a grin, not out of meanness, just curiosity, love, and maybe a little chaos. We'd remind him, "We don't bite our friends," and he'd give a look like, "Yeah, but maybe just this once."
Jaxxen loved snacks - Cake Pops after therapy, tater tots with his Mama, guacamole by the handful, and sweet potatoes as a delicacy. He loved water in all forms: swimming, baths, splash pads, hoses, and lakes. If it splashed, he was in it. And when the wind picked up or the sky cracked open in thunder, Jaxxen felt at home. He didn't fear storms. He was a storm - wild, strong, and beautiful.
He loved music. He loved camping. He loved fishing. He adored his dog Suki, who came when he called "Dog." But nothing lit him up like his Mama, his absolute favorite person, or his sister-cousin-best friend Zariah, who was his partner in crime and in joy. He had just started walking with help and had begun using his AAC device to speak. But the truth is, Jaxx didn't need many words - his spirit spoke volumes. Jaxxen was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation, and he lived his heritage with heart and wonder. His short life was jam-packed with experiences: water slides, train rides, movies, museums, zoos, planetariums, parades, and the beach. He didn't wait for life to come to him - he went out and grabbed it.
Now, Jaxxen's name will continue to light up lives. A foundation is being created in his honor to help children with disabilities experience the kind of joyful, vibrant life he lived, full of movement, discovery, and laughter.
Jaxxen is survived by his Mama and a tribe of family and friends who will miss him deeply and carry him forward always.
We love you, Butter Bean. Keep biting the angels. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Jaxxen, please visit our floral store.
