Jaymes Taylor Wichert

Jaymes Taylor Wichert, age 35, of Hudson, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025 after a courageous and long-fought battle with mitochondrial membrane protein-associated neurodegeneration (MPAN) disease.

Jaymes is the beloved son of Michael and Peggy (nee Crockett) Wichert; cherished brother of Cameron (Brittany) Wichert; loving uncle of Avianna Taylor Wichert and Scarlett Rose Wichert; dear grandson of the late James & Agnes Crockett and Ernest Taylor & Margaret Wichert; Dearest nephew, cousin and friend to many.

Jaymes was an energetic little boy who loved to have fun. He was very witty and had a great sense of humor and adventure. He played soccer and basketball but his favorite was bowling, playing on a couple different bowling leagues. He loved to cook and was hoping to become a chef. Every year he attended Highbrook Lodge summer camp for the Blind through the Cleveland Sight Center. He attended the Ohio State School for the Blind in Columbus his Sophomore and Junior years returning to Hudson for his Senior year. He worked various jobs through the Kent State University Disability Program and attended various different day programs before he became a resident at Hattie Larlham which he enjoyed many activities with his new friends and caregivers. He loved the outdoors, animals and loved being with and helping others.

Jaymes was a 2008 graduate of Hudson High School. He was also active in the Boy Scouts of America where he earned the highest rank of Eagle Scout. Jaymes loved the Lord Jesus his Savior and attended church and youth group regularly.

The family will receive friends 10-11:30 AM Monday, August 25, 2025 at Busch-Romito Funeral Home, 99 W. Aurora Rd., Northfield, OH 44067 where funeral services for Jaymes will begin at 11:30 AM. His services will also be livestreamed at https://webcast.funeralvue.com/events/viewer/115261. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery, Northfield, OH.
