JB Bowers Jr, age 90, of Abilene, Texas passed away on August 15th, 2025, in Abilene. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 2:00pm - 3:00pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd. Abilene, TX.
JB Bowers, Jr. was born in Coleman to Jefferson Bryan Bowers and Juanita Stanphill on December 24th, 1934. He was a graduate of Coleman High School. After graduation, he served in the Army Reserves stationed in Germany. Upon returning from the service, he worked as a Service Specialist for Lone Star Gas Company in Abilene for more than 37 years. After retiring from Lone Star Gas Company, he operated a small engine repair business focusing on lawn equipment.
He was married to Cecilia Ann Young and divorced after 32 years. He was to married Betty Louis Manley as well. He was a singer, guitarist, and had a passion for country music.
JB Bowers, Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Ann Bradley and Sybil Ransberger. And he is survived by Betty Bowers, his son, Jody Bowers, and his stepdaughter Trisha Manley.
The family wishes to extend our sincerest thanks to his friends, Linda, Ester, and the staff at Wisteria Place Assisted Living and Kinder Hearts Hospice for their care in making his last few months comfortable.
