Velva Jean Ware Bismark, 85, passed away peacefully on September 3rd, 2023, in her home with many of her loved ones. She was born March 23, 1938, in Shawnee, OK to Alliue and Lillian Ware.
She was on this earth to serve others. She had cared for over 70 foster children and always wanted to fulfill things for the needy. Mema never wanted anything to go to waste because she always knew that someone else could use it. Her sister Anna says, "Jean was an amazing strong woman. At one time or another she took us all in when we had no place to go. She loved her kids more than they can imagine. We actually got tired of her bragging (lol). She loved working with wood, building chicken coops, and cleaning fence rows. She could do it all. She loved fishing, camping, and traveling." She was one of a kind. She sewed for many years and many of you have her cherished quilts. She loved getting to spend time with her best friend, Addy. When Jean and her sisters would reunite, they would laugh and get so tickled with each other. She sure loved her family and all of them being together brought her so much joy. She got a kick out of scaring people. Jean loved the color red and loved earrings and getting her nails done. She was also known for her famous Chocolate Gravy. She loved watching her kids and grandkids play sports. She was very competitive and even until very recently was the coach of her senior chair volleyball team. There will be a ginormous hole in our hearts without her. But we know she is celebrating in heaven and reunited with the love of her life Glen and her very special granddaughter Tanya that she longed to see again.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Lillian; brother, Allen; granddaughter, Tanya; father, Alliue; sisters, Faye and Thelma; husband, Glen Moore; sons, Kenny and little Joe Hammons; brother, D Ware; husband, Richard Bismark; and brother-in-law, Norman Thomas.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Jean touched are invited to a graveside service, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home, to celebrate this incredible woman's life on Thursday, September 7th, 2023, at 11:00 am at Carolan Cemetery 6061 State Highway 23 in Booneville, Arkansas. There will be no visitation.
Jean is survived by her oldest son, David Hammons and wife, Marilyn; daughters, Terri Jenkins and husband, Dewayne, Marie Nelson, and Misti Sutton and husband, Ricky; brother, Ray Ware and wife, Jean; sisters, Alma Thomas and Darlene Bates and husband, John; her friend, Harold Johnson; and lots of grandkids and great grandkids that she adored.
Pallbearers: Shane Hammons, Travis Hammons, Chris Fryar, Jon Trusty, Erik Hammons and Dakotah Provence
