Jean Pender Raper, 87, stepped into the arms of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on March 2, 2024. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. ll Cor. 5:88
Jean is the daughter of the late William Lee (Bill) and Irene Pender of Edgecombe County. She graduated from Tarboro High School. She was a longtime resident of Greenville, NC.
Jean was blessed with three sons: Michael Clark and wife Kimberlee Jo, Bruce Scott and wife Holly, and Kenneth Neil; four grandchildren: Aaron Daniel Raper, Anna Elizabeth Reynolds, Casey Michelle Cady and Dana Leigh and husband Thomas Rusconi; five great-grandchildren, Hugo William, Gianni Michael, Alexander Gene, Emma Grace (Rusconi) and Nova (Cady).
She is preceded in death by an infant son, Edward Ray, both parents and daughter-in-law, Rhonda Bailey Raper.
Jean was a gifted artist and a kind and gentle soul, the epitome of a true Southern lady.
She was a wonderful mama and grandma and was blessed with a long life to be "loved on" by her family and especially her great-grandchildren.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For through wisdom your days will be many and years will be added to your life. Proverbs 9:10-11.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. Psalm 116:15.
She's finally HOME.
A graveside service will be held at Pinewood Memorial Park in Greenville, NC at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
