Jean Marie (Bonomo) Robotti passed away in Colchester, VT on June 27. She was 97.
Daughter of the late Fannie and James Bonomo of Stamford, Jean was born on October 1, 1927. She graduated from St. John's Parochial School ('42), Stamford High School ('45) and the Stamford Hospital School of Nursing in the Class of 1948. She attended Columbia University to further her nursing education and worked for many years at St. Joseph's Hospital, eventually becoming the Head Nurse and Supervisor in the Radiology Center at Stamford Hospital. After her retirement, she was active as a volunteer in the St. Joseph's Medical Center Auxiliary, as well as in her nursing school Alumnae Association and St. Bridget's R.C Church.
Married to George U. Robotti in 1952, they moved permanently from Stamford to their beloved Vermont in 1999. There they enjoyed many wonderful years appreciating the sunset views over Lake Champlain, watching their grandchildren grow and creating a network of good friends. George pre-deceased Jean in 2018 after 66 years of marriage. In addition, she was pre-deceased by her siblings Rose Rubino and Michael Bonomo.
Jean is survived by her two daughters, Jo-Ann Robotti-Messing and her husband Joseph, of NY and Janet Ely and her husband, David, of VT, as well as her three grandchildren, Elizabeth Maloney (Shawn) of TX; Erika Lemcke (Steve) of VT and Joshua Anderson, also of VT. In addition, she had two great grandchildren, Elizabeth Joy Lemcke and Finley Sterling Maloney.
Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Gallagher Funeral Home, with internment at St. John's R. C Cemetery in Springdale. In lieu of flowers, Jean asked that donations be made to The St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN, 38105) or St. Bonaventure University (3261 W. State St., St. Bonaventure, NY 14778).
