Jean Charles Roy, of Biddeford, died at home on July 28, 2025. He was born on March 19, 1938, in Notre-Dame du Lac, Quebec, to Anthime and Cecile (Pelletier) Roy.
He worked briefly for Allied Shoe and Westland Shoe before becoming a mechanic for Biddeford Public Works. During that time, he also served as Special Police for the Biddeford Police Department and was an on-call volunteer for the Biddeford Fire Department. He later worked as a mechanic for McLean Trucking and retired from Downeast Energy in 2000.
In 1961, he married Charlotte Pelletier in Montreal. He was a member of Good Shepherd Parish and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, and camping.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Charlotte Roy, in 2025; his son, Rene Roy, in 2024; and his grandson, Jason Roy, in 2017.
He is survived by his children: Rejean Roy and wife Doreen of Biddeford, Michael Roy and wife Robin of Saco, Jean Roy and wife Kelly of Lyman, Marc Roy and wife Michelle of Biddeford, and Lisa St. Louis and husband Jamie of Biddeford. He is also survived by Elaine Dequasie, surviving partner of his late son Rene Roy; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one soon-to-be great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04005. A Funeral Outside of Mass will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Hope Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
