After high school, Jeanette and Jerry attended Central Michigan University for their education degrees. Following college, they moved with their first child, Mark, to Rockford, Michigan where they lived for two years. The family moved to Cheboygan, Michigan in 1958 where Jeanette was a teacher in the Cheboygan Public Schools until the early 1970's before she opened a pre-school daycare in their home. Upon closing the daycare, she became the manager for Shanty Boy Gifts and Framing, eventually buying the business and continuing until her retirement.
Jeanette enjoyed traveling and made several trips to Europe with family and friends. When her family was young, Jeanette organized many family camping trips, including a six-week trip to Alaska. She promoted and participated in the arts in Cheboygan and was a founding member of the Northland Players and the Cheboygan Arts Council.
A celebration of life will take place at St. James Episcopalian Church, 202 S. Huron Street in Cheboygan on Saturday, September 6, 2025. The family will greet visitors at 10:00 AM with services at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Cheboygan Area Arts Council, 403 N. Huron Street, Cheboygan, MI 49721.
