Jeanette Gromek of Royal Oak, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on February 21, 2024, at the exceptional age of 99.
She was born on February 7, 1925, in Detroit, Michigan and later became the beloved wife of the late Steve Gromek.
During her life, Jeanette loved to travel worldwide. Her last adventure was a car ride to Washington DC with family in December of 2023. She was notably independent and was often the go to driver for outings with her friends.
During the war years, she contributed to the patriotic effort by distributing gas vouchers. Never one to avoid a difficult task, she always appreciated the value of hard work and sacrifice. Notably strong willed, determined and self-sufficient, Jeanette managed to live independently, on her own, until her death. Knowing its value, Jeanette always stressed the importance of a good education for her children and grandchildren.
Jeanette was the dear mother of Carl (Maureen) Gromek, Greg (Heidi) Gromek, and the late Brian Gromek.
She was the loving grandmother to Brian (Erin Landry) Gromek, Bridget (Shawn) Riehl, Christopher (Jihane Bougazzoul) Gromek, Craig Gromek, and Chad (Lindsey) Gromek. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Heidi Riehl, Reid Riehl, and Louis Gromek along with many nieces and nephews. No doubt, part of the reason Jeanette lived such a long life is that she was enjoying immeasurably her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She truly lived for them. They could do no wrong in her eyes.
Jeanette is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Steve Gromek, and her brothers John and Walter Kayko.
Private services are being held.
