Jeanette was born near Enfield in Hamilton County, Illinois on February 26, 1935 to the late William and Edith (McMahon) Crawford. She was a 1952 graduate of Memorial High School. Jeanette began her work career as the first employee at WFIE TV. She went on to work at Deaconess Hospital for many years and retired from University of Evansville after 10 years of service. During her retirement, she volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Society. Jeanette enjoyed antiquing, collecting items from yard sales, and completing crossword puzzles. She was a faithful charter member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, where she was active in the senior group. Jeanette was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Jeanette is survived by her sons, Jim Macke (Cheryl) of Evansville, IN, Jeff Macke (Cathy) of Carmel, IN, and John F. Macke (Amy) of Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Jane Friona of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Shannon Elias (Matt), Caitlin Ruelas (Victor), Kevin Macke, Eric Macke (Sarah), Chris Macke, Andrew Macke (Jasmine), Jenna McDonald (Mark), Matthew Macke, Nicholas Macke (Madison Plaster), John P. Macke (Kelsey), Erin Macke, Daniel Macke (Bailey Hahn), Claire Friona, and Grace Friona; her family members, John Friona and Vicki Macke; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, John Edward Macke; oldest son, Joe Macke; and sister, Mary Anne Crawford.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 5528 Hogue Rd., Evansville, IN 47712, with Fr. Luke Hassler celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 E. Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 and again from 9:00 am until mass time on Thursday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Pantry, 809 N. Lafayette Ave., Evansville, IN 47711.

So many great memories with the Macke´s. They were as close to us as family growing up. Jeanette sure was a good friend to our mom. Thinking of you all with love.
