Jeanne Elizabeth Alves (née Weaver) of East Falmouth passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on August 24, 2025, at Bridges by EPOCH in Mashpee.

Born on February 23, 1944, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Jeanne was the daughter of Thomas and Yvonne Weaver. She graduated from New Bedford High School in 1962 and later married the love of her life, Gerard R. Alves. They shared more than 41 wonderful years together until his passing in 2006.

For many years, Jeanne worked alongside her husband as a bookkeeper at East Falmouth Auto Supply. She went on to serve as Assistant Treasurer of Falmouth Cooperative Bank and later worked at Falmouth Lumber for a few years until her retirement. Following her retirement, she gave generously of her time, volunteering at the Falmouth Historical Society, Falmouth Hospital, and with the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Dedicated to her community, Jeanne was active in the Boy Scouts, becoming one of the first women in her troop to earn the prestigious Wood Badge Beads. A devoted parishioner of St. Anthony's Church, she served on the finance committee and as president of the Women's Club. She was also a member-and past president-of Business and Professional Women. In 2017, Jeanne was awarded the Marian Medal for her commitment to service, including her work making cough pillows for patients at Falmouth Hospital with her fellow parishioners. She also found joy in knitting and quilting, hobbies she pursued with great care and creativity. Above all, Jeanne's greatest treasure was her family.

She is survived by her children: Christopher and Elizabeth Alves, Jeffrey and Deborah Alves, Lisa and John Cann, and David and Trea Alves. She was a loving grandmother to Justin Alves, Zoe Cann, Thomas Alves, Shaela Alves, Desmond Cann, John Alves, Laney Alves, Zachary Alves, Ellie Alves, and Cassandra Ness-Cann.

Jeanne is also survived by her siblings: Judi Olivera, JoAnn Riviere, Nancy Cassidy, Susan Roderick, and Steven A. Weaver.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gerard R. Alves; her parents, Thomas and Yvonne Weaver; and her brother, Milton Weaver. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.

Jeanne's warmth, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family and community will be remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, September 5th from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Chapman Funeral and Cremations 475 Main Street Falmouth, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Anthony's Church in East Falmouth at 11:00am.

Burial will follow the Mass in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
