Jeanne R. Berlin, 76, of Palmyra passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at her residence. She was the wife of Stephen J. Hitz to whom she was married 28 years.
Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Adam H. and Arline (Fox) Rentschler. Jeanne graduated from Muhlenberg High School in 1967 and earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Mansfield University in 1971. She was a proud member of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. She had a career as an investigator with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General until her retirement in 2002 after 29 years of service. Jeanne was a member of Salem UCC, Campbelltown. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching movies, caring for her cats and will be remembered as a kind and generous person with a great sense of humor.
In addition to her husband Steve, she is survived by a step-daughter Melissa, wife of Nelson Hackmaster of Texas; two step-grandchildren Mckenzie and Garrett; one brother A. Mark Rentschler and his wife Cat, of Laureldale, Pennsylvania.
Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Best Friends Animal Society, www.bestfriends.org in her memory.
