Jeffery Neal Nelson, affectionately known to friends as “Bodine,” who left us on April 24, 2025, at the age of 61 in his beloved home in Elgin.
Born in Taylor, Texas, on April 10, 1964, Jeffery was a cherished member of his community. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Elgin, and he proudly graduated from Elgin High School. Jeffery’s early career took him to Austin Machine Shop, where he dedicated many years of hard work until an unfortunate accident changed the course of his life.
Even through hardship, Jeffery held dear the love of family and the joy of nature. He found immense happiness in hunting and fishing, often sharing these cherished moments with his brothers, nephews, and cousins. Riding motorcycles with his favorite cousin, Howard “Stickman” Prinz, brought him particular delight. Known for his unwavering spirit, Jeffery fought valiantly to regain use of his arm, determined to continue embracing the activities he loved.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley “Bo” & Shirley Nelson; brother Clifford; sister, Brenda; and brother in-law, Joe Sunvision.
Jeffery’s legacy is tenderly upheld by his sister, Debbie; brothers, Joe & Donna, Bradley, and Jason & Robbie. Though he never married or had children of his own, he played a significant role in the lives of numerous nieces and nephews, whom he adored and cared for in their younger year; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will also carry forward his memory.
In facing life’s trials, Jeffery has shown us lessons in humility, love, courage, and resilience. He truly embodied the spirit of living life to its fullest, regardless of the obstacles he encountered.
In a moving tribute, his sister Debbie reflects, “Brother, I am proud to be your sister and to share this journey with you – Love you brother. A heartfelt thank you to my daughter Jennifer for being his caretaker when I couldn’t be there.”
As we celebrate the life of Jeffery “Bodine” Nelson, let us remember the warmth he brought into our lives and the lessons he imparted. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
