Jeffrey Leo Boutin, 40, passed away in the water at Red Rocks in South Burlington, VT on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. Jeffrey was born in Starksboro, VT on April 23, 1985 to his loving parents, Leo and Mona (Roberts) Boutin. He grew up in Williston, VT where he attended Williston Central School and Champlain Valley Union High School.
Affectionately known as 'Jeff' by those who knew him well, he had a big heart, gentle soul, and gave the best hugs to those in need. Early on he developed a passion for drumming, which he carried on well into adulthood. He could hear any song, pick up the beat, and soon be playing along. This brought joy to him and others. Jeff developed a love for reading in his earlier years, mostly fantasy novels that took him to places he could only imagine. This likely created his passion for being an endless wanderer. His travels took him on an adventure to Singapore and later he traveled from Vermont all the way to Miami, Florida - mostly on foot. Jeff considered himself a "Hobo" and was proud of the fact that he relied on no one but himself for his existence. He slept outside, under the stars, in commune with nature and the animals that happened to be close by Jeff was a true animal lover. He spent most of his time, during his travels and while in Burlington, picking up litter on the sidewalks and roadsides. He felt that it was his obligation to help keep the areas he traveled in a better condition than when he found them. He was accepting of all creatures and offered his love to any in need.
Jeffrey leaves behind his parents - Leo Boutin III & Mona (Roberts) Boutin of Fletcher, VT; his sisters - Kari Waite & Josh Brace (partner), and Jami & Travis DuVal (spouse); nephews - Phoenix Boutin & Chase DuVal; as well as many other relatives on both sides of his very large, extended family (Boutin and Roberts).
The family will be honoring Jeff's lifestyle by not holding any public services and, instead, will have a small, private event to be held at a later time. The family invites and encourages everyone who knew him to share your memories and condolences by visiting

If you feel the need to do something in Jeffrey's honor, please continue his mission of making the places that you frequent more beautiful by picking up after yourself and your family, and showing empathy for those around you.
