Jeffrey Lucas Obituary

Jeffrey "Jeff" J. Lucas, 63, of Monrovia, left this world unexpectedly and all too soon on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. He was born in Indianapolis on July 26, 1961, to Phillip "Sonny" L. and Peggy A. (Martin) Lucas.
As a young boy, Jeff attended Hall Elementary School where he and his older brother Spike were regularly mischievous. In the first grade, Jeff won the contest between the two for getting the most whacks, a whopping 110, a record that probably hasn't been broken to this day. A proud graduate from Monrovia High School with the class of 1979, he went to work for Frank McClure as a laborer. A talented mechanic, he was employed with various companies in the trucking industry.
Funny, smart, and one heck of a chef, Jeff could whip up delicious food, and cooking was his favorite past time. He enjoyed boating, camping, and fishing, and was one to watch church on TV every Sunday morning. A dynamic duo with his father, Sonny, the pair spent long hours in the garage working side by side on lawn mowers. One not to turn down a bet, he was also soft-hearted, yet impatient and had a quick temper at times. Private by nature, he loved his family deeply and after the passing of his beloved mother, he went above and beyond to help his dad take care of her fur baby, Teddy, as well as making sure all the laundry was done. Leaving this world all too soon, he will be sorely missed by his friends and family.
Jeff was preceded in death by his son, Quin Franklin; mother, Peggy Lucas; and sisters, Mary Lucas and Sheila Feeback.
He leaves behind his daughter Stephanie Bowen of Covington, GA; father, Sonny Lucas of Monrovia; brother, Spike Lucas (Jurell) of Anderson; grandchildren, Hunter, Caylee, and Colten; aunt, Beulah Summers (Gene) of Martinsville; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral and Cremation Arrangements have been entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 6:00pm until a Celebration of Life Service that will start promptly at 7:00pm, Pastor Mark Boardman will officiate, and cremation will follow services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to help offset his final expenses c/o Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel, 585 E Main St, Monrovia, IN 46157, and will be greatly appreciated.
