Jeffrey Ramesh Urs of Nicholasville, Kentucky passed away April 27th, 2025, at age 65. Jeff was born March 28th, 1960, in New Haven, Connecticut. In 1975, the Urs family relocated to Illinois. Jeff went on to attend the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he met his college sweetheart and lifelong companion, Alison. Jeff and Alison married in 1985 and settled in Nicholasville, where they raised their family. Jeff worked as a software engineer for 39 years, spending the last 14 years of his career at Dormakaba.
Jeff was devoted to his wife, his children, and his church, Christ Church. He enjoyed singing, writing poetry, and was active in the Boy Scouts for many years. Jeff was known for his kindness, compassion, intelligence and sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 39 years, Alison; his daughter, Rachel; his son, Alex; his brother, Kris (Denise); his sister, Kamala (Juergen); four nieces (Jennifer, Katie, Suma, Vasi) and four nephews (David, Kris, Adam, Luke). He was preceded in death by his parents, Rama and Harriet Urs, and his brother, Walter Urs.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, May 2nd, at the Betts & West Funeral Home in Nicholasville (404 N Main St, Nicholasville, KY).
A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Jeff’s life at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 3rd, at Christ Church (1111 Catnip Hill, Nicholasville, KY).
In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions to Christ Church: Children and Youth ministries.
