Jennie Teresa Ledesma Griego Gutierrez, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2024, at the age of 91. She was born on October 14, 1932, in Santa Cruz County. Jennie’s remarkable journey through life touched the hearts of many. At just two months old, Jennie moved from Watsonville to Oxnard, where she was lovingly raised by her grandparents, Camilo and Juanita Ledesma, and Aunt Mary Ortega. Their nurturing and steadfast support shaped Jennie into the kind-hearted and vibrant woman remembered by all who knew her. Jennie called Ventura County home for over 72 years before moving to Sylmar, CA, and later Reno, NV. Her heart remained forever tied to Ventura County, for the majority of her life.
She is survived by her sons, Ernie (Roberta), Danny (Susie), and Rick (Linda) Griego and her grandchildren Julie, Christopher, Eric, Ricky, Matthew, and her great-grandchildren CeCe and Diego. As well as her siblings Sally Gallardo, Belia Lint, Mary Downey, Joe Ledesma, Richard and Ruben Ortega.
Jennie was preceded in death by her parents, Juvencio Valencia and Remedios Guzman
Ledesma; her grandparents, Camilo Ledesma and Juanita Guzman; her beloved brothers Louie, Robert, Juan, Ruben, and Harvey Ledesma, as well as Bonificio, Daniel, and David Ortega; and her husbands, Ernest Griego and Philip Gutierrez and her fur baby Wally.
A woman of diverse passions, Jennie excelled in many areas. She was an avid bowler and quilter. Jennie loved sports and listening to Mariachi Music. She enjoyed visiting the beach and attending sporting events and spending time with her furry companion Heidi. Jennie was always a vibrant presence at family gatherings and parties and loved to strike up conversations with everyone she met.
The family would like to especially thank Virginia “Vergie” Horario and Angel of Grace for their loving care and support for Jennie for the past 5 years. We would also like to thank Landmark Health, Assisted Home Health and Hospice staff members for their loving care and support to the family.
