It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jennifer Lynne (Maher) Caris, a remarkable woman who lived her life with strength, resilience, and a deep love for her family. Jen was a brilliant, strong-willed, and determined individual whose infectious laughter and zest for life touched all who knew her.
Jen began her career as a Physician's Assistant, but her drive to make a deeper impact led her to pursue a medical degree at Rush Medical School. There, she graduated at the top of her class and became an accomplished Emergency Medicine doctor. Jen's ambition and dedication were evident in everything she did, and she was always striving for excellence.
In addition to her medical career, Jen was a woman of many talents and passions. She loved cooking, especially preparing holiday meals like Thanksgiving dinner and homemade lasagna and spaghetti sauce for her family. An avid animal lover, she cared deeply for her pets throughout her life, with her cherished cats-Smokey, Romeo, and Chia-holding a special place in her heart.
Christmas was Jen's favorite time of year. She eagerly anticipated decorating the house, hanging stockings, and selecting thoughtful gifts for her children. The last Christmas spent in Las Vegas with her family, where they enjoyed Cirque du Soleil, was a treasured memory that she worked hard to create, savoring every moment with her kids.
Above all, Jen's greatest love was for her four children. She was immensely proud of them and enjoyed every moment spent with them. Despite not having a perfect role model to follow, Jen worked to break the cycle, ensuring her children always knew they were loved and supported. She poured her heart into raising them and was unwavering in her commitment to their happiness and success.
Jen was a loving mother, sister, and friend, whose feisty spirit and passion for life left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Though she fought tirelessly to the very end, she was unable to overcome her inner struggles with addiction. She will be deeply missed by her children, family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Jen's legacy will live on in the laughter, love, and determination she brought to the world. Rest in peace, Jen. You will never be forgotten.
