Jennifer Lynn Voorhees, 45, of Brooklyn, formerly of Jonesville, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 after a four-and-half-year battle with glioblastoma. Born on October 17, 1979, in Hillsdale to Lendell "Pete" and Nancy Carolyn (Laws) Pruitt, Jennifer was a gentle soul whose strength and loving heart left a permanent place in the hearts of those who knew her. She married her best friend and love of her life, John Voorhees, on June 26, 1999. Together, they built a life centered on family, laughs, and enduring love.
Jennifer truly found joy in the simple pleasures of life-sunset boat rides across the lake, the quiet rhythm of yarn between her fingers, the joy of baking from scratch, and the laughter-filled shopping trips with her sisters. She was soft-spoken yet unwavering, with a heart full of compassion. Jennifer's greatest joy was her family, and she poured her love into raising her children. Her presence was a source of comfort, her kindness a quiet anchor. Those who knew Jennifer will remember her warmth, her gentle humor, and the way she made everyone feel cared for. Her legacy of love, patience, and quiet resilience lives on in her children and in all those whose lives she touched.
Jennifer is survived by her beloved husband, John, and their children, Austin, Shane, and Lillian Voorhees; sisters, Tammy (Chuck) Shepherd, Rhonda (Rick Barker) Molinaro, Jacque (Mary) Pruitt, and Michael (April) Pruitt; brother-in-law, Rich Truitt; father and mother-in-law, John and Linda Voorhees; sister-in-law, Jill (Brad) Beyer; and niece, Hailey Beyer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Kaye Truitt.
"God saw you were getting tired,
and a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around you
and whispered, 'Come with Me.'
With tearful eyes we watched you suffer and
saw you fade away.
Although we loved you dearly,
we could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hardworking hands come to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best."
A celebration of life will be held at the Brooklyn American Legion on Friday, August 8, 2025 from 5 to 8 PM.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Henry Ford Hospice or the Voorhees Family.
