Obituary published on Legacy.com by Freeman Mortuary - Jefferson City on Oct. 1, 2025.
Jennifer Marie "Jenny" Cowart, age 45, of New Bloomfield, Mo. passed away on May 14, 2025, at Capital Region Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. We share this with heartbreak that reaches into every corner of our lives. Jenny was a beloved wife, devoted mom, radiant daughter, loving sister and aunt, and unforgettable friend. She was 45 years old, and somehow, she managed to fill those years with more joy, love, and meaning than most people can in twice the time.
Jenny leaves behind the people who were her whole world: her husband and best friend, Jeff Cowart, who always knew how to make her laugh; and their daughter, Molly, the love of her life and the legacy of all her best qualities-her wit, her fire, her empathy.
She is also survived by her parents, Brenda and Bob Custard, who raised her to be strong, stubborn, and endlessly loving; her favorite sister, Mandy Zylstra; her brother, Travis Custard; her brother-in-law, Bobby Zylstra; her father- and mother-in-law, Les and Rena Cowart; and brother- and sister-in-law, Lesley and Miranda Cowart. Jenny adored her role as Aunt Jenny, and she leaves a lasting mark on her nieces and nephews, Cera Martin and her husband Zachary, and their children Ansley, Owen, and Ollie, and Tanner Custard, Noah Zylstra, and Zoe Zylstra.
Jenny is survived by a big, beautiful extended family, including her aunts and uncles, James Underwood (Carol), Rebecca Stewart, Rita Nichols (Gene), Jack Custard, Sharon Vaught (Alvin), Susan Koprivica, Donnie Custard, Linda Guerrant (Wayne), Richard Custard (Karen), Doug Custard, and Doris Custard. Jenny also leaves behind numerous cousins who each carry a piece of her spirit.
She was preceded in death by her aunts, Janice Whiner, Betty Geoffrey, Mary Jo Powell, Joyce Underwood, and Marita Custard, and uncles, Larry Underwood, Kenneth Carter, Jim "Deke" Custard and Steve Koprivica.
Jenny was the kind of person who made everything more fun, more inclusive, and more vivid. She turned the ordinary into something special, the mundane into a memory. Her laugh was unmistakable.
The best way to honor Jenny? Go to the beach or Disney. Laugh loudly. Tell someone you love them. Get a colonoscopy. Live like Jenny did-fully, fiercely, and with your whole heart.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 19, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Union Hill Baptist Church, 460 S Summit Dr, Holts Summit, MO 65043.
A funeral service will be conducted Monday, May 19, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at Union Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Cole Calloway-Hodson officiating. Interment will be private for the family.
