Jeremy Clement Bellanger, age 35, journeyed to the Spirit World on June 14, 2025. He was born on December 14, 1989, to Marcella Louise Bellanger (Noozhe bizhiw ikwe – Lynx Woman) of Cass Lake, MN, and Donald "Jay" Burris.
Jeremy was a vibrant Two-Spirit Ogichidaa whose presence touched the lives of all who knew him. Known for his caring nature and deep sensitivity, he had a unique gift for understanding others and holding space for their truths. He moved through the world with both fierce defiance and gentle compassion- never afraid to challenge, question, or love deeply.
As a child, Jeremy was spirited and bold, often the one stirring up mischief and laughter, always running toward the next adventure. As he grew, that spark transformed into a powerful passion for justice, community, and self-discovery.
He was a seeker of connection, a protector of kin, and a deeply loved son, brother, nephew, and friend.
Jeremy now walks among the stars, embraced by those who went before him: his maternal grandparents Delsie (2000) and Clement Bellanger (2003); Auntie Geraldine Burdetta "Geri" Partridge (2011); paternal grandparents Mattie (2016) and James Dunkley (1996); aunties Patricia "Patsy" Eylandt (1998), Debra "Debbie" Dunkley (2018), and Sandra "Bambi" Sayers (2021).
He is survived by his mother, Marcella Bellanger; biological father, Michael David Dunkley (Monidoo Inini – Spirit Man) of Redby in Red Lake Nation; brothers OpiChee and Michael; sisters Zhawin and Gabriella; sister Benayshi; brother Giniw; and many beloved aunties and uncles including Wanda Bellanger, Aunties Connie Wahpepaw, Viola "Vi" Bellanger; Barbara "Hubba" Ramos, Regina "Reggie" Dunkley, Roberta "Birdie" Dunkley, Karen "Tiny" Davis, and Valerie Dunkley. He is also mourned by countless cousins, relatives, and friends who held him dear.
Jeremy's spirit now soars with our ancestors in the nation beyond, where peace, laughter, and love are everlasting.
