Jerome "Jerry" Nestor, cherished husband, father, "dedu", and friend, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, in
Wake Forest, NC, at the age of 76. Jerry was born on August 23, 1949, in Ambridge, PA, to the late Metro and Julia Halaico Nestor. Jerry's life was a testament to his loving, thoughtful, and friendly nature, which touched the lives of all who knew him.
Family was the cornerstone of Jerry's world. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, John Nestor. He is survived by his devoted spouse, Catherine, and their loving children, Elizabeth Johnson and her husband Josh Enderle, Kevin Nestor and his wife Emily, Jennifer Siegel and her husband Andrew, and Rebecca Dugard and her husband Josh. Jerry's role as "dedu" to Sam and Sloane Siegel and Killian and Thera Dugard was one of his greatest joys. He adored each of them, and his legacy of love and wisdom will continue to guide them.
Jerry's academic journey was marked by a relentless pursuit of knowledge and excellence. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University, followed by an MBA from Vanderbilt University, and later a Juris Doctor from John Marshall Law School in Chicago. His educational accomplishments laid the foundation for a distinguished career in law.
For over 35 years, Jerry dedicated his professional life to CCH, formerly known as Commerce Clearing House. As a tax attorney, he was not only respected for his expertise but also beloved for his ability to turn clients into friends. Jerry's passion for his work was evident to all, and he often said that his job was his life, a sentiment that resonated deeply with his colleagues.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Jerry was an avid believer in the importance of physical fitness. He maintained a daily jogging routine well into his later years, transitioning to walking as time went on. He also loved just sitting in the sunshine getting his daily dose of vitamin D. His commitment to exercise was just one aspect of his disciplined and vibrant lifestyle. Faith and music were also an important aspect of Jerry's life. He was a member of the Long Grove Church choir and praise team for many years. He loved to sing and played his guitar regularly, and he especially loved to lead the family sing-along at Christmas.
Jerry's life was a beautiful mosaic of dedication, warmth, and genuine connections. His absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him. Jerry's memory will forever be a beacon of love and friendship, guiding us through the days ahead.
A memorial service for Jerry will be held at a later date at Long Grove Community Church, 1110 Robert Parker Coffin Rd, Long Grove, IL.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made in Jerry's memory towards a Memorial Bench to be placed in Joyner Park,
