Jerry Campbell

Jerry Campbell, 78 of Oshtemo, Michigan passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 3, 2023. Jerry was born September 20, 1944, to James and Josephine Campbell in Pontiac, Michigan. Jerry as a kid worked at his dad's Standard gas station and helped with the family towing business.
Jerry graduated from Milford High School and went on to study Business at Michigan State University. After college Jerry joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Battle Creek. Every evening while in the Air Force he would play the piano at a family pizza restaurant, Shakey's, in Kalamazoo.
After leaving the Air Force Jerry worked for Champion Spark Plugs as an Area Representative. He then decided to work for himself and opened Campbell Auto Supply in 1975 in Portage, Michigan. Jerry worked long hours and was able to hire a great group of employees. The store was known for great advice and trustworthy service. One of his best employees was Mike Riesgraf who was hired at 16 years old. Mike became the new owner when Jerry retired after 29 years of ownership. Jerry was extremely proud that Mike wanted to continue his great business.
Jerry was blessed with a gift of music. He loved play ragtime songs on the piano and banjo. Jerry shared his talents throughout his life playing at senior centers, nursing homes and social gatherings.
Jerry was always up for a laugh with his quick wit over a cup of coffee or a cold drink. Jerry was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing golf with friends and family. He always enjoyed hosting loved ones, whether it was on the golf course or a boat ride at the lake house. Jerry also loved watching western television shows, classic movies and also traveling.
Jerry is survived by his wife Judy of 24 years, sons Sean and Scott (Gina Campbell), daughters Lisa and Jannie (Dave Sabo), stepchildren Tina (Ray Bush), Michelle (Claude Johnson), and Norman Coonfer. Jerry was blessed to have 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Jim and John. Jerry was the last sibling of his generation.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 22 at 2:00pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49009, where the family will greet friends from 1-2:00pm prior to the service.
