Jerry Ead Chafins

Jerry Ead Chafins, 69 years of age, of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Mouth Card, KY, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025. Born February 15, 1956, he was the husband of Susan Chafins, and the son of the late Dallas and Ina Chafins.
Mr. Chafins served his country in the U.S. Navy and afterwards spent 20 years working in the underground coal mines of Southwest Virginia and Eastern Kentucky before moving to Florida. There, he worked briefly at Cracker Barrel and then spent 17 years at Tropicana, retiring from the company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dallas Chafins, Jr., his sister Rebecca Gibson, and a brother David Wayne Chafins.
In addition to his wife, Susan, those left to cherish his memory include his daughters Anna, Jessica, Dawn, and Amy, his grandchildren, Isabell, Jasmine, Kaylee, Sydney, and Nick as well as his sisters, Judy McClanahan (Lonnie) of Tazewell, VA, Pamela Gross (Michael) of Whitewood, VA, Tammie Franks (Lyman) of Lexington, KY, Sandi Chafins of Mt. Sterling, KY and his brothers, Robert of Dingess, WV, Timmy (Kathy) of North Carolina, Billy Joe of Oakwood, VA, and Dwight (Amanda) of Paintsville, KY.
A memorial service will be held at Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel in Grundy, VA, on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 12:00 noon with Pastor Danny Hess officiating. A private burial will follow in the family cemetery. Lonnie McClanahan and Michael Gross will serve as pallbearers.
Jerry was a member of the Family Church of Bradenton, Florida. The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the congregation for their kindness and support during this difficult time.
