Medina -- Jerry R. Curren, age 95, of Medina, formerly of Rittman, died Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Medina Hospital, following a period of declining health.
Jerry was born on April 8, 1929, in Holmesville, Ohio, to Clarence and Charlotte (Martin) Curren, graduated from Holmesville High School, and served as a Sergeant (T) in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne, during the Korean War. He married Florence "Carol" Haas on November 9, 1952, in Holmesville, and she survives.
He worked as an accountant with Rittman Savings Bank for many years and then was the Treasurer and Vice President for Gilbert Lumber in Smithville. In his retirement he drove for College Hills Honda and Performance Pontiac in Wooster, retiring in 2010, after a 75 year career.
Jerry was a member of First Church of God in Wooster, a Master Mason in Garfield Masonic Lodge # 528 and the Order of the Eastern Star in Shreve. He enjoyed fishing, especially in Canada, camping, and anything that had to do with airplanes.
Surviving is his son, Alan (Connie) Curren of Wooster; daughter, Colleen (Scott) Curren of Marshallville; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a great-great grandson; and brother, Bill (Connie) Curren of Wooster.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Milton Sumney; and five siblings.
Private services with military rites will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, at the convenience of the family.
