Jerry Alan Gindele passed away on July 1, 2025, at the age of 81 in San Marcos, TX. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 20, 1944, to Howard and Darlene Gindele. Jerry attended North Allegheny High School in McCandless Township, PA and Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. Jerry loved the arts, including theatre, opera, rock and classical music. His favorite music was Handel's Messiah and the Battle of the Bands brought tears to his eyes. He was deeply involved with the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra. Jerry was also an avid yoga practitioner, loved his dog Stevie, cheered for the Pittsburgh Steelers and played an instrumental role in the founding of The Zebra Insurance Company. Jerry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Catherine Brockschmidt Gindele, his sons, Jason Gindele and Joshua Gindele, and his daughter, Rachel Davies. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and his sister, Judith McCloy. A Celebration of Life will be held on November 1, 2025 from 3:00-5:00pm at Spirit Pittsburgh, 242 51st Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15201. Please bring a funny hat and a story about Jerry to share.
