Jerry Orzechowski

Heronia Joseph "Jerry" Orzechowski, age 83, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on May 16, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born February 10, 1942, in Kapsi, Poland, to the late Alexander Orzechowski and Tekla Orzechowski.
He graduated from East High School in Sioux City, Iowa. He joined the United States Navy, serving his country proudly aboard the Bon Homme Richard during the Vietnam War from 1961 to 1964. After Basic Training, he met his wife, Barbara Moore, while ice skating, and they stayed in touch while he was overseas. He returned in 1964; they dated and were married a year later, on September 11th, 1965.
In 1972, he moved to Stone Mountain, Georgia, after accepting a job with AT&T, where he worked as a computer programmer and retired after 31 years. After retirement, he moved to Carrollton, Georgia, to be closer to family. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and the Golden K Kiwanis Club of Carrollton.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his sister, Angela Orzechowski Landers.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Moore Orzechowski; his daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Scott Patterson of Dallas, Georgia; his son, Shane Orzechowski of Dallas, Georgia; his grandson, Brandon Patterson of Frankfort, Kentucky; and his granddaughter, Shayna Orzechowski of St. Petersburg, Florida. He also leaves behind to cherish his siblings, Ted Orzechowski, Larry Orzechowski, Stanley (Barbara) Orzechowski, Wanda (Glenn) McMicheal, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, with Father Joe Wagner officiating. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in the church cemetery, with the United States Navy rendering military honors.
