A Celebration of Life for Jerry Owens, 79, of Weaver and Centre, Alabama, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Weaver with Pastor Mark Walker Officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the church.

Mr. Owens passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Martha Phillips Owens; daughter, Wendy Key; grandchildren, Owen Key and Abigail Key; sister, Vickie Owens Grimes (Bobby); special nieces, Janet Copeland and Regina Watson; and several other nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Betty Owens; grandparents, Ola Mae and Ben Owens; and infant sister, Kathy Owens.

Jerry graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1966. In 1967, he met the love of his life in Piedmont, where he was best friends with her brother. They married in 1969 and, eight years later, were blessed with their daughter, Wendy. In 1987, they purchased Bay Springs Campground in Centre, which they faithfully operated together until his passing.

He found joy in fishing and took great pride in caring for his yard, which he kept immaculate. A talented landscaper, he enjoyed working outdoors and ensuring everything was neat and beautiful. Above all, he cherished time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. His sun rose and set with his two grandkids. Jerry was a devoted husband, father, and brother who will be deeply missed.
