Jerry Lee Samuels

Frankfort – Jerry Lee Samuels, age 69, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025. Services will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Les Whitlock officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. Military Honors will be observed at the gravesite by the VFW Post 4075. Visitation will be at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lovingly known as "Moe," to his family and friends, he was born in Frankfort on August 19, 1955, to the late Alonzo Cooper Samuels and Mary Elizabeth Barnett Samuels. During college, he played basketball for Mississippi Valley and Panama City Gulf Cost. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. Jerry began working at Buffalo Trace Distillery and then worked as a Correctional Officer at the Frankfort County Regional Jail as well as many other factories. Mr. Samuels enjoyed fishing and cooking; watching sports – especially University of Kentucky Basketball and pro football. He mostly enjoyed watching the Franklin County High School Flyer's Football. He was a Cadillac enthusiast. Above all, enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be fondly remembered for his outgoing and comedic personality. He is survived by his loving wife and partner of 44 years, Sarah Spillman Samuels; his children, Jerry Antoine Samuels, Charlotte Elizabeth Samuels, and Jamard Motez Samuels; sister, Wanda Elizabeth Samuels and by many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was also blessed with two special great-nephews, Jaizon Nysiah Collins and Delano Isreal Collins, and a great-niece, Kenya Cyann Collins. He also leaves behind his dog, Roxy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Alonzo Cooper Samuels, Jr. and George William McKnight; and by his favorite dog, Zoe. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends. Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home & Crematory.
