Jessie Jean Cecil was born October 3, 1942 in Cordova, Iowa the daughter of Harry and Charity Fay (Ruckman) DeHeer.

She was raised in the Cordova and Red Rock area. Jean worked as a waitress at T & G, before going to work at Pella Corp. where she retired after 25 years. In her spare time, Jean enjoyed sewing, quilting, bingo, fishing and hunting ginseng root. Jean had a feisty personality, so you always knew her opinion and she was also very sharp witted.

Jean passed away Saturday, November 8, 2025 at West Ridge Specialty Care at the age of 83 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Fay and her siblings: Ila, Robert, Gary, Delmar “Mort”, Carroll, Leroy “Sox”, Leslie “Bud”, Billy, Harry, Jr. and Melva Jean.

Those left to cherish Jean’s memory include her children: Rickie Dean Cecil, Russ Cecil, Roger (Theresa) Cecil and Velma (John) Cecil; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren (another due in April); siblings: Becky Breuklander, Bonnie Wilbur, Jane Shore, Ina Simpson, and Phillip De Heer and many other family members and friends.



In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
