Celebrating the life of Jewell "J.D." Stacy, a beacon of adventurous spirit, boundless energy, and bravery. J.D. was born in Daingerfield, Texas on April 3, 1938, and resided in Hughes Springs where he shared his zest for life and joyous heart with all those around him.
J.D. charted a path of excellence early in life, becoming Salutatorian of Daingerfield High School's graduating class of 1956 before earning an associate's degree from Kilgore College. His career spanned 25 years at Texas Instruments as a skilled draftsman, a role he embraced wholeheartedly after honorably serving in the U.S. Army.
He cherished vibrant and dynamic hobbies that spoke to his lively character. J.D. was an avid dancer and enjoyed camping, taking moments in the quiet of nature to think. He shared numerous hiking adventures with his brother Weldon and was proficient in target practice, spending several sessions at the rifle range. His youth was marked by days as a lifeguard at Daingerfield State Park, where his daring flips off the tower and diving board were a sight to behold. He nurtured a passion for boxing from his sophomore year through senior year in high school, maintaining an undefeated record in his bouts. J.D.'s high school years were also filled with football and theatrical pursuits, showcasing his diverse talents and interests.
Family trips to Daingerfield State Park were treasured times, where J.D. relished in simple pleasures like eating watermelon during hot summers and watching his children playfully interact with the geese. In his later years, he found joy in watching wildlife shows, particularly on National Geographic, reflecting his love for animals and nature.
J.D. urged others to cherish every moment with his favorite life lesson: "time flies." This philosophy was a testament to his approach to life, always full of passion and enthusiasm.
J.D. was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bonnie Stacy; his daughter, Kimberly Stacy; his parents, Graham and Willie Stacy; his brother, Weldon Stacy; and sister-in-law, Martha Stacy. He is survived by his daughter, Alicia Johnson and her husband Daryl of Flower Mound; sons, Scott Stacy and Jason Stacy, both of Dallas; grandchildren, Justin, AJ, and Audrey Johnson, all of Flower Mound, Austin Stacy of Dallas, and Abram Aguilar of Houston; and his sister, Betty Stacy of Redwater.
J.D.'s life was a vivid tapestry woven with love, joy, and unforgettable memories. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him to live fully and embrace every moment. His presence will be dearly missed, yet his indomitable spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday, October 30, 2025 in the Chapel of Horn Family Funeral Home of Daingerfield with Bro. Michael Roberts of Veal Switch Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Daingerfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 PM prior to the service.
