James "Jim" Edgar Bowers, age 82 passed away on the morning of Saturday, April 5, 2025, from his battle with congestive heart failure and cancer. Jim was at home surrounded by his loving family during this difficult time.
Jim was born in Baltimore, Maryland on February 9, 1943, and was the proud son of the late James Calvin and Mildred Virginia (Buchman) Bowers. Part of his lifetime in growing up, he enjoyed living on a farm in Frederick, Maryland. Upon reaching the age of 17 years old, he decided after much persistence towards his mother to enlist in the United States Army.
Jim was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served three years as an Army Unit Supply Specialist responsible for managing supplies and equipment such as firearms, ammunitions, and ensuring that everything needed for operations was available accordingly.
Jim enjoyed his career working as a mail carrier for 18 years with the United States Postal Service in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. After retiring from the postal service, he decided to move his family out to the country to reside in Carroll County, in the city of Westminster, Maryland. Jim had a passion for the outdoors and found joy in hiking and feeding the birds. He also enjoyed putting large puzzles together and carving wood. He will be deeply missed by his family.
7 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day -- and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."
2 Timothy Chapter 4 verses 7 & 8 NIV
Surviving in addition to his beloved wife, Carolyn Joyce (Jordan) Bowers of 60 years are his precious children, his son, Michael James Bowers and wife Maria Lyn of Westminster, his daughter, Kelly Renee (Bowers) Brown and husband Ronald Stephen of Taneytown and his daughter, Kimberly Joy Bowers of Westminster, grandchildren Daniel Alan Bowers and Katherine Rose Brown, and siblings Terry L.
