Age 76 of Coal City, Illinois died Saturday, February 15, 2025 surrounded by family at his home.
Born February 4, 1949 in Elizabeth City, Virginia, James Leonard was a son of Steve and Gladys Bozich. He was raised and educated in Joliet, Illinois; graduated from Joliet West High School with the class of 1967, and went on to honorably serve in the United States Army, where he completed two tours in Vietnam. Jim met the love of his life, Peggy (nee Malone), and the two of them began their lives together, marrying in 1991. Jim worked as a master cabinet maker and retired from Euro Tech Designs in Plainfield, Illinois following many years of service.
Jim had a deep love for the outdoors, where he found joy in fishing and woodworking. His greatest pleasure was sharing his passions with his grandchildren, teaching them how to throw as cast, and sink a hook. He was a dedicated coin collector and a recycling enthusiast, always being mindful of preserving the world around him. His love for life extended to concerts, and restoring his cherished 1998 Mustang. Though he was a homebody at heart, Jim always made sure his home was filled with the love and laughter of family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather-someone whose unwavering loyalty and protective nature made him the rock of his family. To all who knew him, Jim was a natural leader with a strong personality, someone you could always count on.
He is survived by his wife Peggy; children: Dan Davidson, Shawn (Amber) Davidson, Amanda Davidson, James Bozich, Jr., Jason Bozich, Brian Bozich, Kim Hale; grandchildren: Zach Davidson and William Davidson; great grandchildren: Myia Davidson and Kai Davidson; two sisters: Faye Warner and Debrah Tracy, and one brother, Ken Warner, as well as many cousins and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Gladys, and his brother-in-law, Tom Malone.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
Jim will be laid to rest with full military honors in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Jim's memory to Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, Illinois 60431.
