Jim Eischeid Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home on Feb. 16, 2026.
Funeral services for Jim Eischeid, age 85, will be held at 10:30am Thursday, February 19, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Jefferson, Iowa. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Following the funeral, a funeral luncheon will be held at St. Joseph's Parish Hall. Interment will be in Highland Township Cemetery, Bayard, Iowa.

Jim Eischeid was born November 5, 1940 in Carroll, Iowa. He was a long-time resident of Bayard, Iowa.

In the summer of 1960, Jim met Jeannette Stauber while he was working at Nissen Trampoline Company in Cedar Rapids. Jim and Jeannette married in 1961 and two years later, Jim began his lifetime plans to be a farmer. In addition to farming, Jim served his family and community as a member of the Bayard Co-op Board, St. Patrick's Parish Council Board and Church, Guthrie County Beef Producers and Pork Producers, and the Bayard Ambulance.

In retirement, Jim found peace in having realized three lifetime dreams – being a father, being a farmer, and fishing at his lake home on Blackduck Lake in Orr, Minnesota. His hobbies included fishing, woodworking, and playing cards with family and friends.

James G. Eischeid, age 85, entered his eternal life on February 15, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Alvina (Boes) Eischeid; an infant sister, Patricia; a daughter, Julie Sheehan; and a granddaughter, Danielle Hilton.

Jim is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jeannette; son Doug Eischeid; daughter, Joan (Ned) Schneider; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings: Richard Eischeid; Kathleen Ramos; Janice (Steve) McGill; and Stephan (Sharon) Eischeid; brothers-in-law, Gerald (Linda) Stauber, Larry Stauber, and sister-in-law, Joyce Best; other relatives and many friends.
