He was born on July 14, 1952 in Rock Hill, South Carolina to Jonnie Florence (Carter) Connell and the late Oscar Burdett Connell
Jimmie graduated from Jefferson High School in 1971.
On June 1, 1974, he married the love of his life, Marietta Blankenship. She preceded him in death on August 19, 2017.
Jimmie worked for Lafayette Glass in the auto glass depart and eventually retired as a manager after 25 years. He had previously worked for Bill Defouw as a mechanic after high school.
He was a member of American Legion Post 11.
Jimmie enjoyed Hot Rods, especially his 1968 Dodge Dart, and fishing. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed traveling to Colorado to visit them. Jimmie was loved dearly by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his daughter, Anjetta Leahmae Terry of Englewood, CO; his mother, Jonnie Connell of Lafayette; his siblings, Susie (Wayne) Hinman of Monon, IN, Diane Thompson of Lafayette, and David (Kristy) Connell of Tazwell, TN; and his grandchildren, Leah Monroe Terry and Hayden Connell Terry.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Hough, his son-in-law, Marc Monroe Terry, and his father Oscar Connell.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Sacred Grounds Reclaimed (724 Wabash Ave., Lafayette) at 3 p.m. with a reception following until 6 p.m. Private burial will be held in Elmwood Cemetery in Romney.
Memorial donations may be made to National Kidney Foundation in loving memory of Jimmie.
