Mr. Jimmy H. Knight, age 85, beloved husband of Geraldine Mauldin Knight of Wrightsville passed away on Monday morning, October 7, 2024 at their home, after a battle with Parkinson's Disease and heart failure.
Mr. Knight was the fourth of eleven children born to the late Pink Knight and Maude Ellen Haywood Knight. He was born on December 1, 1938 in Johnson County, Georgia. In 1963 he married, Thomaston native, Geraldine F. Mauldin, whom he had met while working at a cotton mill in Thomaston. He worked for Kroger Foods at the Kroger Distribution Center near Atlanta as a truck lift operator for over thirty years. He retired in the late 1990s and returned to Wrightsville in 2005. A man of impeccable work ethic; he loved big and offered a helping hand to anyone in need. His favorite moments were spent with family and friends and those moments were full of love and laughter.
He was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Church of the Nazarene, where he was always ready to share a laugh, a joke or a smile with anyone around. With his outgoing personality, he made friends easily and captured the heart of every child by sharing his pocketful of Starbursts on Sunday mornings.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, Nellie Garnto, Sharon Brantley and Barbara Page.
He leaves to cherish his memory: the love of his life; his wife, Geraldine Mauldin Knight of Wrightsville, their daughters; Duuna Logue (Tommy) of Harrison, Sylvia Foskey (Kenny) of Adrian, their son, Dallas Knight (Alana) of Mansfield; grandchildren, Matt Logue (Whitley Clark), Wesley Logue (Georgi Allen) Dalton Foskey (Kaitlyn), Erin Mixon (Will), Wyatt Knight and Hannah Knight; his siblings, Lena Foskey, Earl Knight (Mildred), Edwin Knight, Shirley Dixon, Lavon Keene (Paul), Jackie Lyles (Troy), Doyle Knight (Jenny) and numerous extended family and friends who loved him dearly.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 10, 2024 from the graveside in the Mt. Olive Church Cemetery with Reverend Jimmy D. Wright and Reverend L. T. Logue officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Matt Logue, Wesley Logue, Dalton Foskey, Wyatt Knight, Will Mixon, Kent Foskey and Scott Brantley.
At Mr. Knight's request, there will be no formal time of visitation prior to the service, but everyone is invited to attend the graveside service.
