Jimmy Watson, age 84, a devoted husband, dad, and granddad, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 14, 2024. Born on April 1, 1940, in Mineral Wells, Texas, to James C. Watson and Goldie Rue (Busby) Watson, Jimmy grew up with strong family values that he carried throughout his life. He graduated from Odessa High School and later married the love of his life, Johnnie Miller, in 1961. Together, they built a loving family and raised four children: Jim, Mike, Jeff, and Denise.
Jimmy dedicated over 25 years of hard work as a truck driver for Winn Dixie, where he was known for his reliability and strong work ethic. Prior to that he worked in the pipeline construction industry and was a helicopter mechanic.
A man of quiet strength and endless devotion to his family, Jimmy's greatest joy was spending time with those he loved. Whether cheering on his grandchildren at their activities or enjoying family gatherings, his presence brought warmth and laughter to everyone around him.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, James and Goldie Watson, and siblings, Hugh, Jackie, Glenna, and Linda.
Jimmy is survived by his cherished wife of 63 years, Johnnie Watson of Weatherford, Texas; children, Jim Watson and wife, Donna, Mike Watson and wife, Marni, Jeff Watson and wife, Jennifer, and Denise Bennett and husband, Jeff; nine beloved grandchildren, Levi, Cory, Ryan, Colton, Zach, Key, Gabby, Kaleb, and Jacob; and five precious great-grandchildren, L.J., Parker, Gunnar, Tyler, and Aubrey.
Jimmy's love and legacy live on in the hearts of his family.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, in Weatherford, Texas, with burial to follow at East Greenwood Cemetery.
