beloved by her family and friends, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024, at the age of 82. Jo-Anne was born on November 29, 1941, in Roxboro, North Carolina, and grew up in Cranston. Jo-Anne's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and friends.
Jo-Anne spent her professional life as a medical office administrator as a long time professional with Calenda Eye, and previously, Dr. Vito Coppa’s medical practice. This was a role she fulfilled with diligence and compassion until her recent retirement. Her colleagues and patients alike will remember her for her warm demeanor and her commitment to excellence in her work. Jo-Anne also worked for Gantos for many years where she was able to use her talent for fashion to benefit many clients who relied on her artistic eye for detail and classic styles. Jo-Anne was recognized by Gantos as a top seller because of her dedication and commitment to her customers and their needs.
An alumna of St. Mathew’s School in Cranston, and St. Xavier High School, Jo-Anne built her foundation in faith and developed many wonderful, life-long friendships. She enjoyed creating gardens and meticulously designing her home. She created beautiful spaces that reflected her personality and lovely sense of style. Her knack for logic and voracious appetite for reading lead to hours of fun tackling puzzles and games of many varieties. Her artistic inclination extended to a variety of projects, showcasing her love of creativity and self-expression.
Jo-Anne was deeply committed to her family. She is survived by her devoted children, Beth Anne Basile, and her husband Thomas Daggett of North Kingstown; and Peter F. Basile and Yulia Gervitis of Medfield, MA; and her sister, Frances Shirley of Coventry. Jo-Anne was also a loving grandmother to Juliana P. Daggett, Celeste C. Daggett, and Isabella M. Basile, who brought her endless joy and pride. She is survived as well by special cousins and friends who she enjoyed many joyous and meaningful events and days with. Jo-Anne is predeceased by her beloved husband, Francis L. Basile, and her parents, Frank J. and Matilda (Vivenzio) Martinez. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday September 18, 2024 at 10am in St. Bernard Church, 275 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown, RI 02852. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Tuesday from 4-6pm in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory - South County Chapel, 1111 Boston Neck Rd, (Rt. 1A), Narragansett. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Bernard Church, 275 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown, RI 02852.
Jo-Anne Basile leaves behind a legacy of love of family, faithful friendship, and artistry that will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by her family and friends
