Shawnee resident, Jo Ann Cleere, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, February 26, 2025, in Shawnee, at the age of 82.
Jo Ann, the daughter of Truman Reavis and Wilma (Cornett) Bazemore, was born July 28, 1942, in Seminole County, Oklahoma. She graduated from Prairie Valley School in Seminole County, with the class of 1959. On November 21, 1959, Jo Ann married Bill Cleere, at Highway Baptist Church, she and Bill enjoyed 65 years of marriage prior to his passing on January 14, of this year. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Earlsboro. Jo Ann was happiest surrounded by family and friends, whether spending time outdoors or enjoying a long conversation. She had a deep love for horseback riding and spent many years in the saddle whenever she could. Jo Ann never met a stranger—she knew so many people and cherished every chance to chat, whether it was catching up with a friend over the phone or welcoming someone into her home for a visit.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Cleere; her parents, Truman Reavis and Wilma Bazemore; her brother-in-law Don Cleere; and sister-in-law, Billy Ann Cleere.
Jo Ann is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Norma Cleere, of Seminole; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Joe Buckhanon, of Sparks; four grandchildren, Kurtis and Secily Cleere, Rachel and Jon Ervin, Derek and Shyla Youngs and Heather and Brian Cole; seven great grandchildren, Awstyn, Awbrey, Hunter, Sloane, Crew, London, and Vaughn; longtime family friend Stephanie Cleere and many other family members and friends.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday February 27, 2025, at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
A graveside service will be Friday, February 28, 2025, at 2:00 P.M., Little Cemetery, with Kelly Casey officiating. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
