Atlas- Joan Louise DiFrancesco, 92, of 224 W. Saylor Street, passed away on July 22, 2025, at her residence with family by her side.

Joan was born in Atlas on September 6, 1932, to the late Benedict and Anna (Rossi) DiFrancesco, alongside her beloved twin sister, Jean Stellar. Affectionately known as "The Twinners," the two sisters looked alike and dressed alike.

She was a lifelong resident of Atlas and a graduate of Mount Carmel Township High School, Class of 1951.

Joan was a devoted member of Divine Redeemer Church, formerly St. Paul's Chapel in Atlas, and actively participated in many church activities during her younger years.

Throughout her life, Joan cared for many family members, including her parents, brothers, sisters, and many others. She enjoyed bowling, playing card games, and Scrabble. She and her late sister, Dora, graciously hosted many cherished family gatherings at the family homestead. She loved to sing The Hula-La-Ha at family events and enjoyed dancing. Joan visited Italy and had the honor of meeting Pope John Paul II. She was a member of "The Council", which consisted of her and her six sisters.

Joan is survived by her twin sister, Jean Stellar of Kulpmont; two brothers, Joseph DiFrancesco of Denver, PA, and Benedict DiFrancesco and wife, Denise of Newtown Square; a sister-in-law, Ann DiFrancesco of Royersford; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by five sisters, Domenica Federico and husband, Russell, Lena Wynne and husband, Martin, Julie Pitello and husband, Bob, Mary J. Stellar (Twin to Anthony) and husband, Bernard, and Dolarice "Dora" DiFrancesco; three brothers, Emiddio DiFrancesco and wife, Carmella, Anthony "Bronx" DiFrancesco (Twin to Mary), and Richard DiFrancesco and wife, Rose; a brother-in-law, John Stellar; and a sister-in-law, Nancy DiFrancesco.

Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Andrew Stahmer as celebrant in the Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott St., Kulpmont. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Mt. Carmel Twp. Viewing will be held in the Church on Thursday, July 31st, from 9:15 a.m. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Divine Redeemer Church, 438 W. Ave., Mt. Carmel, PA 17851, or Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott St., Kulpmont, PA 17834. Joan was one of the sweetest ladies you will ever want to know! She loved her family very much, and enjoyed many things about life.
